Meet the Executive Staff
President and CEO
Kim Taccati, President and Chief Executive Officer of Staffing Connections, started the company in 2006 with a desire to bring staffing and human resources experience to the Columbus area. Kim’s continuous commitment to staffing excellence and trust has secured Staffing Connections a place as a leading employment agency in many local industries, providing staffing services in the Columbus/Ft. Benning, Opelika/Auburn, and Atlanta area markets.
Kim holds a degree in Finance from Columbus State University and has over twenty-five years of management, recruiting, human resources, sales, and marketing experience. She has held a variety of executive staffing positions in many different areas, including clerical staffing, financial staffing, medical staffing, executive management, industrial placement, and direct hire placement. Kim has managed business resource groups to support national field teams, then negotiated and oversaw the maintenance of national contracts. She has increased efficiency and productivity through business process management and quality management solutions; other responsibilities have included developing and managing over $25 million in P&L while building and maintaining high performance work teams. Her sourcing of candidates for internal positions and field employees has supported tremendous growth in revenue and market share.
Before Staffing Connections was founded, Kim worked in the Human Resources department of the W. C. Bradley Co. for nine years. As recognition for her exceptional dedication, she received the W. C. Bradley Co. Spirit Award from her peers. In the twelve years to follow, Kim worked as Area Manager with Staffing Solutions in the Atlanta and Columbus markets and remained a member of the President’s Club numerous years for outstanding sales performance.
Kim is an enthusiastic member of her community, as is demonstrated by her involvement in many industry and community organizations. She is an active member of SHRM, the Green Island Country Club Membership Committee, and a board member of CORTA; she also participates in the Junior League of Columbus, the Better Business Bureau, and the Chambers of Commerce in Columbus, Georgia, Harris County, Georgia, and Opelika, Alabama. She is a dedicated volunteer for Columbus Hospice and the American Cancer Society. In her spare time, Kim loves spending time with her husband, Scott, and her children, Meaghan and Ryan.
Peggy VanHouten is one of the Vice Presidents of Staffing Connections, primarily overseeing Operations in all three branches. Originally from upstate New York, Peggy relocated to the Columbus area in the 1980s. She brings over twenty-five years of professional experience to the company and loves the opportunity to change the lives of people through staffing and recruiting. Her extraordinary organizational skills and attention to detail was developed by critical responsibilities in the national sales, finance, and marketing field in both multi-representative/multi-function support roles and management roles. She constantly strives to provide excellent customer service to clients and candidates alike. Peggy enjoys her active role in the Chamber of Commerce, SHRM, and other civic organizations. She also loves to travel and spend time with her family.
Carl R. Bland, Jr.
Carl Bland is a Columbus, Georgia native and became a member of the Staffing Connections team in 2009. His background in human resources, operations management, accounting, sales, and marketing means that his experience is invaluable to the company. Carl graduated from the D. Abbott Turner School of Business at Columbus State University, where he majored in Accounting. He is a veteran of the United States Navy (Amphibious Forces) and served our nation with pride and excellence. Carl’s initial role with Staffing Connections was that of Direct Hire Recruiter and Account Executive. In 2010, he was promoted to Area Executive Manager, overseeing the sales and general operations of both the Columbus and Opelika branch offices. Six years later, he was elevated to his current position as Vice President. He now manages the company’s corporate credit policy and oversees risk and safety management for all Staffing Connections locations. Carl enjoys an active role in many community organizations, including SHRM, several local Chambers of Commerce, Fort Benning, and many local veterans’ organizations. Carl and Pamela, his wife of twenty-seven years, love spending time with their children and two granddaughters. Beside family time, he enjoys classic cars, learning new skills in the kitchen, and photography.
Scott is Chief Operating Officer, responsible for Staffing Connections’ financial strategy and guidance. One of his many responsibilities includes ensuring acceptable operating performance for all three Staffing Connections branches. Scott graduated from Columbus State University with a degree in Finance, and has over thirty years of commercial banking experience at numerous institutions throughout the Southeast. Scott is also the founder and CEO of Trillium Capital Resources, a commercial real estate loan brokerage company with offices in Columbus, Atlanta, and Jacksonville, Florida. His extensive experience is crucial for proper financial risk assessment and credit evaluation of clients.
Born and raised in Napa Valley, California, Charlie found his way to Columbus via a Golf Scholarship to Columbus State University, then known as Columbus College. While there, he was ranked among the elite in his sport and was voted All American 3 times. Charlie graduated in 1989 with his Bachelor of Science Degree and went on to successfully play in the professional ranks for seven years. Charlie remains on the Board of The Fred Haskins Commission where he once proudly served as its President. Charlie comes to Medical Connections after a successful and productive 17-year career in national medical sales and distribution. Being a family man, when he is not working Charlie enjoys simply hanging out with his wife, Shannon and engaging in other interests with their two boys, Tanner and Walker. They enjoy the outdoors and try to get in as much golfing, fishing, and hiking as possible. His vast knowledge of medical procedures and operations in med-surg sales, distribution, and management is the springboard needed to propel Medical Connections service to the next level for our medical clientele.
