Area Vice President
Peggy VanHouten is the Vice President of Staffing Connections. Originally from upstate New York, Peggy relocated to the Columbus area 1980’s and has made this her home. She brings over 25 years of professional experience to our company. Peggy enjoys working with people and knowing she can change the lives of so many. Her extraordinary organizational skills and attention to detail stems from critical responsibilities in the national sales, financial and marketing areas. Her experience in these areas range from multi-rep, multi-function support roles to management responsibilities. She recognizes and fosters unquestionable customer service practices within Staffing Connections and constantly strives to maintain the company in which customer service and complete satisfaction is the only mission. Peggy enjoys being active in our local Chamber of Commerce, SHRM and other civic organizations. She enjoys traveling as well as spending time with her family.
Carl R. Bland, Jr.
Vice President, Credit & Risk Management
Carl is a Columbus, Georgia native and became a member of the Staffing Connections team in February of 2009 with over 25 years’ experience in Human Resources, Operations Management, Sales & Marketing. Carl began working for Staffing Connections as the Direct Hire Recruiter and Account Executive in February of 2009. In October 2010, Carl was promoted to Area Executive Manager to oversee the Sales and General Operations of both Columbus and Opelika branch offices. In 2016 Carl was elevated to his current position as Vice President. He is currently charged with management of Corporate Credit Policy and Risk & Safety Management of all locations for Staffing Connections. He is a product of the D. Abbott Turner School of Business at Columbus State University where he majored in Accounting. He is also active in, and supportive of, local Chambers of Commerce, Ft. Benning and local Veteran’s organizations. Carl is a Veteran and former member of the U.S. Navy, Amphibious Forces. Carl and Pamela, his wife of 27 years, enjoy their children, Joey (Jennifer), Chelsea (Zach), Trey and two grand-daughters. Other than his family time, some of his favorite activities, away from work include classic cars, learning new, creative culinary skills and photography.
Columbus Branch Manager
A recent addition to the Columbus team, Melissa, has been a resident of the Columbus area since early childhood. She brings over 10 years of human resource and recruiting experience to the operations area of our company, along with in depth account management experience to support our sales team efforts. As Branch Manager she will be responsible for the seamless organization, intake, placement and proper registration of prospective and current employees alike. Included in her areas of responsibilities are the proper and legal methods for interviewing, hiring, counseling, and compensation of employees. In addition to managing our State Unemployment Claims, she is responsible for the internal organization and operational function of the recruiting group as well as the account management and customer service metrics of our active client group. Melissa enjoys When not spending her time with her fiancé, Paul, and her teenage children, Bentley and Landyn, she enjoys her leisure time with her dog, Gee. Outdoors takes her to her sports, and tailgating at Auburn football games, but not cooking, camping, and watching the Atlanta Braves/ Falcons play hard to win at their games.
Originally from McMinnville, Tennessee, Kolby came to Staffing Connections, Columbus, in June 2018 via Atlanta, with a burning passion for quality customer service and vision for new business development and a sincere desire to make a change in peoples’ lives. Having previously lived in Columbus for over 17 years and with a short working period in Atlanta, Kolby now lives in the Hamilton area and is responsible for the Columbus area sales, new business development and account management. His dynamic personality and energy brings over 10 years of experience in both personal and extended Customer Service, Sales Leadership, Social Media Marketing and Business Development. Besides his family time, some of his favorite activities include: Motocross, riding motorcycles, DIY projects, baseball games, watching movies, traveling, and food; both participating in its preparation as well as its consumption.
Combined with her more than 5 years of solid customer service experience, Annah’s innate quality of excellent time management makes her a perfect administrator for compliance, records auditing and management. In addition, when required, Annah serves as a Payroll Coordinator, another detailed, intense, time consuming position requiring her unending focus and dedication to task under time constraints. In either role, working under pressurized conditions, Annah successfully finds ways to be both positive in her attitude and productive with her results. Annah has been a solid team member since July 2017 and brings a pleasant smile and bright, fun-loving personality to our team. She enjoys her position and when not busy at work, enjoys her greatest role in life as a new Mother to her precious Daughter, Reese. Annah and Reese like to spend quality time with family and vacationing on the beaches in Destin, Fl.
Lakeisha maintains order and manages all on-site talent, both in training and in the call center at our TSYS center as the On-Site Specialist. She works on-site away from the Staffing Connections office which demands a tremendous amount of self-discipline for time-management and direction. A Columbus native, Lakeisha is also a proud United States Army Reserve Veteran. She brings to her on-site position over 17 years of combined customer service and managerial experience for the daily counseling, training and management of hundreds of potential high level TSYS recruit prospects. One of Lakeisha’s favorite pastimes is watching her only child, L’Trinity, play sports. She is her happiest seeing her family and friends enjoy her cooking, making them laugh, traveling, and shopping.
Jessina was recruited by Staffing Connections because of her proven dedication to professional development, steadfast work ethic, and her incredible ability to interact with people. She was an obvious shining star in a management training program with a national food service company when Staffing Connections discovered her. Because of her professional drive and incredible ability to interact with people, she is a perfect match to the mission of Staffing Connections. Her personality, drive and incredible ability to assess people is critical to our mission of connecting people with the right employer. In addition, she brings over 6 years of administrative experience, 5 years of employment services and 8 years of customer service experience. When not performing for Staffing Connections, Jessina enjoys the beach, football, baseball and spending time with her family.
Atlanta is missing a good bit of its fire because Rob moved to Columbus early in his childhood. As a young man, Rob enjoyed multi-sports activities and won a Soccer scholarship to Columbus State University and has called this home since. As a recent addition to the recruiting staff, Rob has become the pivotal figure for our industrial employee operations. His magnanimous personality makes him the consummate industrial recruiter and account manager for Panasonic. A total bundle of energy, bursting at the seams, matched only by his random, no-holds-barred sense of humor, Rob is a welcome addition to our staff. His unbridled drive and enthusiasm is a characteristic highly regarded by his management team. When not devoting his energy and attention to Staffing Connections, his passion is directed to his twins, Blake and Brinkley. When asked about his most profound achievement so far, he quickly responds that it is his open sense of being a team player that has allowed him the smooth and seamless integration into an all-female recruiting office. When not in Columbus, his heart is between The Hedges as a Total Georgia Bull Dawg fan.
A local area native, Raven began her journey with Staffing Connections in September of 2015 as our front desk associate. She has not only worked as our “first impressions specialist” in the Opelika area market location, but Raven has worked in every operational position of the Columbus area corporate location from front desk, payroll administrator, unemployment to recruiter. She knows and understands each function of every area of operations fluently and is currently one of the Staffing Connections senior recruiting specialists. Her low-key, easy going personality belies the intuitive, understanding talent she brings to the recruiting table. She is an excellent account representative for her assigned accounts due to her understanding of what full service customer service means to the client and her ability to make that happen. She continues to provide excellent individuals to our clients. Driven by her desire for customer satisfaction, her complete knowledge of our system and her ability to work with others, Raven brings a tremendous team spirit to our group. Raven is kept busy after work by her two children, hiking through a park or relaxing on the beach.
Born, and raised in Landstuhl, Germany for most of her life, Mariana, a proud military dependent, relocated to Columbus, Ga. Although she has a strong customer service background, she is new to the rigors of the employment agency industry and to Staffing Connections. She was recruited by Staffing Connections because of her professionalism and to be a specific account recruiter. Mariana has a strong intuitive sense and is passionate about people. These attributes, combined with her warm, engaging personality makes her the consummate recruiter with a tremendous and successful talent for matching people to open positions for a myriad of positions and accounts. She is also a bright and refreshing light in our office family. A new Mother, Mariana can always be found with her daughter at the pool, or hanging out this fall by a campfire.
Commonly referred to as our Director of First Impressions, Jeanine is responsible for, not only a multi-line phone system, but also, the ever-challenging smooth flow of initial processing for walk-in candidates. She can be found, at any given moment assisting upwards of 8 prospective candidates and providing excellent phone service to our inbound calls, sorting inbound mail and working with recruiter’s appointments.
Her engaging smile, disarming personality and professional demeanor completely embodies the consummate front desk specialist. In addition to incoming call and walk-in management, Jeanine’s intuition, diligence and innate focus on detail has elevated her to a Staffing Assistant level making her an integral part of the operational team responsible for the administrative flow of all I&P appointment scheduling, employment verifications as well as assisting prospective employees with pre-employment forms and data entry issues.
Born and raised in the quiet Southern culture of Greenville, South Carolina, Eleanor made Columbus her home along with her family in 2015. She became a team member in June 2018 as a business recruiter. Since that time, her outward display for attention to detail, exceptional professionalism and penchant for graphics and social media has earned her the position as General Staffing Assistant, assisting the Columbus office in a broader, more specialized and critical area of administration and the overall registration process. As a Compliance Specialist, her years of customer service is evident as she interacts with prospects and references alike. Her dogged work ethic, professionalism and attention to detail is crucial while auditing and reviewing critical information in the compliance process and company social media review and postings. When not working, Eleanor can be found utilizing her passions in the graphic arts, painting, drawing, reading Star Wars or spending valuable time with family. Her absolute life’s passion, outside of family and work however, is Cotton, her miniature Poodle fur-baby.
